Day 1 — Celtic Park and the East End
Morning: Celtic Park Stadium Tour
Start in the east end of Glasgow, home of Celtic FC since 1888. Celtic Park holds over 60,000 people and carries one of the great stories in world football: the 1967 European Cup, won by a team born entirely within 30 miles of this ground. The 60-minute guided tour covers the Trophy Room, dressing room, tunnel, and pitchside.
Afternoon: Explore the East End
After the tour, walk to The Barras Market (10 minutes) — Glasgow's famous weekend market running since the 1920s. Then visit The People's Palace on Glasgow Green — one of Glasgow's best free museums covering the social history of the city.
Lunch: The Brazen Head on London Road — a traditional Celtic pub with good food and a genuine local atmosphere.
Evening: Merchant City
Head into the Merchant City for dinner. Try Hutchesons City Grill for a classic Glasgow steakhouse, Ox and Finch for sharing plates, or Paesano Pizza for the best pizza in Glasgow. Finish at The Pot Still on Hope Street — over 700 whiskies.
Day 2 — Ibrox and Hampden
Morning: Ibrox Stadium Tour
Take the Subway (Clockwork Orange) to Ibrox station — a 5-minute walk from the stadium. The 90-minute guided tour is the most in-depth of Glasgow's three stadium experiences. The marble staircase, Trophy Room, dressing rooms, tunnel, and dugout all feature.
Afternoon: Hampden Park and Scottish Football Museum
From Ibrox, Hampden is 15 minutes by car or 25 by public transport. The combined museum and tour runs 2 hours. The Scottish Football Museum holds the world's oldest national football trophy (the Scottish Cup, 1873). Free parking on site.
Evening: Southside Glasgow
Shawlands — 10 minutes from Hampden — is the neighbourhood to head for. Try Buongiorno for outstanding Italian, or The Allison Arms for a proper Glasgow pub with good food.
Day 3 — History and the Old Firm Story
Morning: The Three Hampdens Walking Tour
Glasgow's most underrated football experience. This 2-hour walking tour covers the history of Hampden from its origins, including Cathkin Park — the world's oldest purpose-built international football stadium, now an overgrown ruin with terraces still intact. Book in advance.
Afternoon: Football History Walk
Visit the founding plaque at St Mary's Church Hall on Abercrombie Street in the Calton — where Celtic FC was founded in 1887. Then walk the city centre, taking in the architecture that formed the backdrop to 150 years of Scottish football history.
Evening: The West End
Head to the West End for your final evening. Try Cail Bruich on Great Western Road for a genuinely special farewell dinner, or The Ubiquitous Chip — a Glasgow institution since 1971. Finish with a walk through Kelvingrove Park.
Practical information
Getting around
The Subway connects the city centre to Ibrox. Buses serve Celtic Park and Hampden. A taxi between any two stadiums costs £10–18. Day bus tickets cost around £4.50.
When to visit
The season runs late July to May. Avoid match days — stadium tours are suspended when clubs play at home. Midweek visits give you the best chance of doing all three tours without conflicts.
