Home of Aberdeen FC · Founded 1903

Pittodrie was the world's first all-seated, all-covered football stadium. Home of the Dons since 1903, it holds 20,866 and sits in the Pittodrie area of Aberdeen, a short walk from the city centre.

The 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup

On 11 May 1983 in Gothenburg, Aberdeen beat Real Madrid 2–1 to win the European Cup Winners' Cup. It remains one of the greatest achievements in Scottish football history. The man in the dugout was 41-year-old Alex Ferguson, six years before he moved to Manchester United. The story of that team — and that night — is central to any visit to Pittodrie.

Combining Aberdeen with Glasgow & Edinburgh

Aberdeen is 2.5 hours by train from Edinburgh (ScotRail, from £15) and around 3 hours from Glasgow. Trains run regularly throughout the day. A 5-day Scotland football tour — Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen — is very achievable.
